What to pack for a long bus trip
A trip to Poland, Czechia or Germany can take a full day. A few right things in your hand luggage make it far easier.
Documents and money
- Passport and ticket — in your hand luggage, not in the hold.
- Some cash in local currency: in Europe toilets at petrol stations and bus stations are often paid.
- A bank card and the carrier's phone number from the ticket.
Clothes and comfort
- A jumper or a light blanket: the air conditioning can be stronger than you would like.
- Comfortable shoes that are easy to slip off and on, plus a spare pair of socks.
- A neck pillow and a sleep mask — especially for night trips.
- Earplugs or headphones.
Food and water
- A bottle of water — at the border and between stops there may be nowhere to buy one.
- Food that keeps and does not smell: nuts, bars, fruit, crackers.
- If you are heading to the EU, skip meat and dairy products or finish them before the border.
Electronics
- A power bank and a cable: not every bus has sockets. The facilities on each trip are listed on the route page and in «Trip details».
- Films, music and books downloaded in advance — Wi-Fi on the road and near the border is often unstable.
Small things that save the day
- Wet wipes and hand sanitiser.
- The medicines you take, and something for motion sickness if you need it.
- A small bag for rubbish.
- A pen — sometimes there is a form to fill in.
